Description
The daylight ebs as the setting suns rays slowy creep up the horizon. An F4U Corsair, nicknamed HOG, is struggling to come aboard in the waining rays of the late afternoon sun. The LSO stands vigil with his paddles to aid the craft aboard.
The flight deck of an aircraft carrier is a dangerous place for all those who serve aboard. Made even more difficult for the flight crews of the mighty Corsairs was the fact that foreword visibility was nothing, creating a nearly impossible task of lining up on the deck of the carrier for landing. For this reason, The Corsairs were relegated to island fields for a time until new methods for making circling approaches were finally adapted.
